What's Brewing: R&D

Not all coffee links rate an immediate posting on CoffeeDogs. Click here to view live coffee research in action! Here's a raw list of coffee-related links with little or no commentary. Think of it as the (un)official coffeeDogs R&D lab. Some of these links might eventually make it to coffeeDogs with comments, and others might just stay there.

She blinded me with (coffee) science

Coffeescience.org presents information on coffee, caffeine and health, reviewed by medical experts, from science journals and industry reports.

Or don a white lab coat and drop into the lab of CoSIC, the pan-European Coffee Science Information Centre.

Science!

The Immortal Speeder and Earl's

Speeder and Earl's was one of the first coffees to be sold on the web in the earl 1990's. It disappeared off the web for a while, but is now back. The highly caffinated "Speeder's Blend" is one of my favorites.

The Coffee FAQ

Let's take a break from the "classic sites" and visit a newer one. The Coffee FAQ, " A site dedicated to coffee obsession" lists a wealth of knowledge about coffee, from water quality to chocolate covered espresso beans.

In Memorium: dead coffee sites

As previously mentioned, most of the sites on the original JavaLink are now gone. To ensure they're not totally forgotten, I'll mention some of classic the "A" and "B" sites here:

The @ Cafe ... "thrills, chills, and more spills than you can take," live from NYC.
All Dressed in Black ..."Wearing Black has been the hallmark of the coffee-drinking intelligencia for nearly 400 years."
Aswellas Cafe ...of Sweden. Internet aswellas Coffee
Andrew Birkett's Coffee/Caffeine Home Page ...facts about " most important thing in the world... coffee"
Bad Bob's Screaming Man on Caffeine ...t-shirts.
Bean-o-rama
Big Jitters "That harmless, socially acceptable, psychoactive drug we call caffeine might not be so harmless after all."
Boyer's Coffee... coffees, teas, spices, books, etc.

If these sites continue to exist under another URL, let me know and I will post them!

The Late, Great Coffee Cams

I started going through my list of links on JavaLink. Since the site was created in 1993, most of the links are now dead and gone web sites. The list is in alphabetical order, and all of the "A" and "B" sites are now dead, but not forgotten. Once I hit the "C" list, I had some luck. "The Cappuccino Machine in the
Basser Department of Computer Science
at Sydney University
" is one of the oldest "web cams" on the web, back when people thought it was cool to put up web cams focused on inanimate objects. I'm glad to see that this site is still up and running. It's a web classic.

Another classic coffee cam site is The Trojan Room Coffee Machine (Cambridge, UK). The site went into operation prior to 1994, and the coffee machine was put to rest in 2001. The last known photos of the immortal coffee pot are still in place.

Over the Coffee

"Over the Coffee' is one of the original coffee sites (early 1990's), so it is fitting that it be the first listing here. I'm not sure if there's any original content left, but it does contain active links.
